Mangaluru, April 24: The Income Tax Department on Monday conducted raids at two residences owned by Karnataka Congress leader Gangadhar Gowda and an educational institution in Belthangady, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka.

Ranjan Gowda, the son of Gangadhar Gowda, is the owner of the educational facility.

In 2018, Gowda left the BJP and joined the Congress. He recently declared his retirement from politics after being denied a ticket for the Karnataka Assembly elections.

More information is awaited.

The Income Tax (IT) department is now conducting searches across Tamil Nadu.

“IT officials are conducting searches at more than 50 locations in Tamil Nadu, in connection with a private firm,” official sources said earlier today.

Sources claim that the private firm and the DMK are very close.

Karthik, the son of Anna Nagar DMK MLA MK Mohan, whose home has been searched by income tax, is the company’s shareholder.

After an IT raid on the home of a DMK leader’s son who is a shareholder in the company, a number of DMK cadre reportedly began to demonstrate.

More information is awaited on the issue.
