New Delhi, Dec 7: India captain Rohit Sharma injured his left hand while attempting to take a catch, during the second One-Day International against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.
Rohit was taken to the hospital immediately for scans, and India will be hoping that the injury is not serious. It appeared that Rohit had a cut close to the webbing.
The incident occurred when India pacer Mohammed Siraj got one to kick from good length to find the outside edge of opener Anamul Haque Bijoy’s bat in the second over of the Bangladeshi session. Rohit, who was waiting at slip, received the ball low. He reached out with both hands, but the ball landed on his thumb in the wrong location and bounced away.
“India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans,” said BCCI in a statement.
