Hazaribag, Dec 7: A CID team has started a probe in the case related to the mysterious death of six members of one Maheshwari family in 2018. The bodies were found in the flat of CDA Shubham Apartment near Khzanchi Talab.
Sources said the team led by inspector Ravikant is working to establish whether this is a case of murder or suicide. The officials on the condition of anonymity said they have collected clues so far as well as samples from the flat.
The Maheshwari family was well-known and well-to-do and involved in the business of dry fruits. The six whose bodies were found included Mahavir Maheshwari (70) whose body was found hanging from a ceiling fan but his feet were touching the bed and his hands were tied. His wife Kiran’s body was found on the bed near him. The couple’s only son Naresh’s body was found from the parking area of the apartment with his legs broken which made the police assume that either he had jumped from the terrace or thrown. Naresh’s wife Preeti’s dead body was also found hanging while their ten-year-old son’s throat was slit. Their seven-year-old daughter Pari’s body was found on a bed.
Sources said CID team will have to link many missing facts of this case to reach the conclusion. One of the most surprising fact was that a power of attorney was found from the flat which gave the property right of this flat to a neighbour who is now on the radar of CID.

Sources said CID will now grill this man about whom it appeared that he is close to prominent and powerful politicians of the state. The CID wants to know the reason behind giving a power of attorney of the flat to a neighbour. They will try to get the answer directly from the neighbour as well as cross-check his location information at the time of the incident.
CID sources said they had so far collected all details related to business of Maheshwaris as well as about their relationship with the suppliers to others. It also appeared that they have taken loans of around Rs 50 lakh.
“So we are presently focusing on it also to know how true this information is,” they said. Before this case was handed to CID, the police had questioned the neighbour in many times.
