Ranchi, Nov 18: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Jharkhand High Court against the full capacity permission of spectators at JSCA stadium for the India and New Zealand T20 match.

The petitioner , Advocate Dheeraj Kumar, on Thursday asked the Jharkhand Chief Secretary, the Director of Disaster Management Department and the Jharkhand Cricket Association, why the government allowed full occupancy in the stadium whereas temples, courts and other places are allowed with 50% only.

According to the PIL filed by the advocate, allowing a 100% capacity of spectators is risking the lives in the view of COVID-19. . The advocate has also made a special request in the court for early hearing on the petition so that the hearing can be done at the earliest and the order of the state government can be stayed in this matter.

Notably, India and New Zealand will play the second match of the three-Match T20 series in Ranchi on Friday. Interestingly,  two days ago the state government had allowed to book only 50% of the stadium’s seats for the second T20, but then this decision was withdrawn.
