Kanpur, Nov 26: Shreyas Iyer hit maiden Test ton before Ravichandran Ashwin frustrated New Zealand bowlers in the first session on Day Two of the opening Test against New Zealand.
India ended the first session on Friday at 339/8 with Ashwin and Umesh Yadav unbeaten on 38 and 4 respectively. On Day Two, Indian scored 81 runs in the first session.
Shreyas Iyer, on his debut match completed his maiden ton. With this, Iyer became the 16th Indian to score a century on Test debut. The last debutant to achieve the same was Prithvi Shaw, who had scored sparkling hundred against the West Indies in Rajkot in October 2018.
Southee helped New Zealand comeback in the game as he dismissed Wriddhiman Saha and Iyer in quick succession. In total he took four wickets.
