New Delhi, Jan 16: As India completed one year of its Covid-19 vaccination drive on Sunday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya called it as the “most successful in the world.” He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for kicking off the campaign a year ago.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Mandaviya said, “Today the world’s largest vaccination campaign completes one year. This campaign started under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji with ‘Sabke Prayas’ is the most successful vaccination campaign in the world today.”

Union Health Minister extended greetings to health workers, scientists and the people of the country. “I congratulate all the health workers, scientists and countrymen,” he further tweeted in Hindi.
Notably, India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 156.76 crore people. In the last 24 hours, almost 66 lakh vaccination doses have been provided.
Mansukh Mandaviya also published a graphic depicting how India’s immunisation push began and how it was able to administer over 150 crore shots in a year’s time.

On January 16, 2021, the countrywide Covid-19 vaccination programme began. The new phase of Covid-19 vaccine universalization began on June 21, 2021.
The immunisation campaign has been boosted by the availability of more vaccinations, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for improved planning, and the streamlining of the vaccine supply chain.
