Dubai, Sept.27: India has emerged as the United Arab Emirates’s (UAE) second-largest trading partner. According to the official numbers, the two countries’ commerce in the first half of 2021 totaled 38.5 billion dirhams. A statement from the Dubai government states that the Emirate’s commerce with China in the first half of 2021 totaled 86.7 billion dirhams. India came in second and America came in third.
Trade with India grew 74.5 percent year-on-year to 67.1 billion dirhams, from 38.5 billion dirhams in the first half of 2020. China posted a year-on-year growth of 30.7 percent. Of this, total trade with Dubai stood at 66.3 billion dirhams in the first half of 2020. The US traded 32 billion dirhams with Dubai in the first half of 2021, up 1 percent year-on-year from dirhams 31.7 billion.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council said that Dubai has cemented its position as one of the fastest growing business centers in the world. He added that Dubai’s existing maritime and air network will be expanded to cover 200 new cities around the world.
