New Delhi, Dec.17: India has recorded 7,447 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday, the country had a total of 7,886 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to roughly 98.38%, the highest since March 2020, and total recoveries to 3,41,62,765.
The number of current COVID-19 cases in India has decreased to 86,415, according to government data released on Thursday.
The nationwide vaccination drive has administered around 135.99 crore vaccine doses.
391 deaths were reported all across India in last 24 hours. The country’s total death toll today stands at 4,76,869. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020.
Up till 16th December, 66,15,07,694 samples had been examined for COVID-19, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). On Thursday, 12,59,932 of these samples were examined.
Meanwhile, Kerala recorded 3,404 new infections and 320 deaths on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 51,95,997 and the death toll to 43,946. According to a state government release, 36 deaths were registered in the last few days, and 284 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after hearing appeals based on the Centre’s revised rules and the Supreme Court’s directives.
Since Wednesday, 4,145 more persons have recovered from the virus, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 51,29,044 and the number of active cases to 34,171, according to the report. In the last 24 hours, 56,580 samples have been examined.
Thiruvananthapuram had the most new cases among the 14 districts, with 633, followed by Kozhikode (523) and Ernakulam (501).
