New Delhi, Aug 8: India reported 16,167 new coronavirus infections in a single day, bringing India’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,41,61,899, while the number of active cases jumped to 1,35,510, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry.
The figures revised at 8 am showed that the death toll had increased to 5,26,730, with 41 deaths, including 15 mortalities reconciled by Kerala.
The government reported that the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.50%, while the active cases make up 0.31 percent of all infections.
Within a 24-hour period, there was an increase of 577 cases in the active COVID-19 caseload. According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate was 4.64 percent and the daily positivity rate was 6.14 percent.
A record 4,34,99,659 people had recovered from the illness, while the case fatality rate was 1.19 percent. The government reports that as of now, the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination programme has administered 206.56 crore doses of the Covid vaccine in the nation.
