New Delhi: At the 77th Republic Day parade, India turned Kartavya Path into a live display of its modern combat capabilities, spotlighting the strategic firepower used during Operation Sindoor, the decisive 2025 counterterror offensive. From air dominance to missile precision, this year’s parade emphasized readiness over ritual.

Operation Sindoor Tableau Highlights India’s Rapid Military Response

A glass-cased tableau representing the Integrated Operational Centre (IOC) traced the timeline of Operation Sindoor, where India retaliated within 88 hours of a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The tri-services operation eliminated over 100 enemy combatants and crippled key infrastructure across the border, with high-level coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Shift from Pageantry to Combat Readiness

For the first time, the traditional ceremonial lines gave way to a Battle Array formation, emphasizing battlefield realism. Air Force jets soared above Raisina Hills, unfurling the Sindoor flag midair — a symbolic reminder of national resolve in the face of cross-border threats.

BrahMos and S-400 Anchor India’s Defence Display

Among the headline weapons, the BrahMos missile system symbolized precision offense, while the S-400 air defence shield demonstrated India’s capability to protect civilian zones during high-tension periods. Other systems like Akash missiles reinforced the concept of a multi-layered defense structure dubbed the “Sudarshan Chakra.”

Indigenous Drone Warfare: Divyastra and Shaktibaan Unveiled

New-generation unmanned systems Divyastra and Shaktibaan, showcased on High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs), represent India’s future-forward leap in warfare. Featuring swarm drones, hybrid UAVs like ZOLT, and loitering munitions including Harop, Mini Harpy, and Sky Striker, these systems signal India’s growing reliance on autonomous and precision-based combat support.

Civilian Unity and Indigenous Strength Emphasized

The Defence Ministry highlighted “Virasat, Vividhta aur Vikas” (Legacy, Diversity, and Development) as this year’s theme. Civilian support, inter-service unity, and Indian-made platforms were credited for both Operation Sindoor’s success and the broader modernization of India’s defense posture.
