New Delhi: With a 2-1 lead in the series, Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, aims to clinch the five-match T20I series against England in Pune on Friday. Ahead of the crucial fourth match, India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayarshared his expectations, expressing his hope for an aggressive batting performance from the Indian side.
Nayar’s Message Ahead Of The Match
In a preview video shared by BCCI on its official X handle, Nayar highlighted the competitive nature of the series and the challenges posed by England’s bowling attack.
“So we are in Pune, the land of the Punekars. You expect a good game of competitive cricket. It’s been a high-voltage series, with players facing different challenges in varied conditions,” Nayar said.
India’s Performance So Far
India began the series on a strong note, winning the first T20I by 7 wickets in Kolkata, followed by a nail-biting two-wicket victory in Chennai. However, England bounced back with a 26-run win in Rajkot, keeping their series hopes alive.
Analyzing the series, Nayar pointed out the battle between England’s bowling attack and India’s batting strength, while also praising India’s spin trio—Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi—for their contributions.
Nayar’s ‘Greedy’ Wish For A Dominant Win
Nayar admitted his desire for a dominant win in Pune, saying, “I just hope our batters come out all guns blazing, put up a strong total, and we can skittle them out for a low score. A very greedy Abhishek Nayar wants us to win this game easy breezy, but with a top England side, you always expect a tough fight.”
England’s Fightback And The Road Ahead
England, led by Jos Buttler, deserves credit for handing India only their third T20I loss in the last 31 matches. Their aggressive approach keeps them in contention to force a series decider in Mumbai on Sunday.
With the high-stakes fourth T20I set to be played in Pune, both teams will be eager to make a statement. Can India seal the series, or will England push for a final showdown? The answer awaits on Friday.
