New Delhi, July 6: A 16-member team for India’s three-match ODI series against the West Indies, which starts on July 22, was unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday.
For the 50-over format, Rohit Sharma and veteran players like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested. Shikhar Dhawan, a seasoned opener, will command the group, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been chosen as vice-captain.
The team includes a number of fresh faces, including Deepak Hooda, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Prasidh Krishna.
Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are the two available wicketkeepers in the squad because Rishabh Pant has also been benched for the series.
Notably, a three-match T20I series between India and England will be followed by a three-match ODI series.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the squad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad,” BCCI said in its official release.
