New Delhi, March 2: On June 26 and 28, a second-string Indian cricket side will face Ireland in two T20 Internationals in Malahide.
The Indian side will visit Ireland in June for a two-match T20I series, according to Cricket Ireland. Top players such as all-rounder Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, first-choice wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah are unlikely to feature in the series because the final Test match from last year’s tour of England is set for July 1-5.
“This summer will be a ‘Season of Stars’ as India, New Zealand and Afghanistan tour Ireland, while we will play South Africa in Bristol. We’re set for the biggest home international season in Ireland ever!” Cricket Ireland tweeted.
The two T20Is will kick off Ireland’s busy domestic summer ahead of their visit to England, which begins with the postponed fifth Test at Edgbaston on July 1.
“We are delighted to welcome back India Men’s team for the first time since 2018, as well as the number one-ranked ODI side – the Black Caps, who were last here in 2017,” said Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland.
From July 7, India will play six white-ball matches against England, including three T20Is and three ODIs. In 2018, India won a two-match T20I series in Ireland by a score of 2-0.
