New Delhi: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief Guest for India’s 76th Republic Day, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and dedication to societal upliftment. Speaking at a special banquet hosted at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Subianto expressed admiration for PM Modi’s efforts to alleviate poverty and support marginalized communities, calling his leadership “an inspiration.”

Historical Visit and Warm Reception

President Subianto’s visit marks his first state trip to India and coincides with the 75th anniversary of Indonesia’s President Sukarno gracing India’s first Republic Day in 1950. Reflecting on this historical connection, Subianto said, “I am proud to be here. I am not a professional politician or a diplomat, but I say what is in my heart. I have learned a lot from Prime Minister Modi’s leadership during my short stay.”

Shared Vision For Prosperity

Expressing hope for stronger India-Indonesia ties, President Subianto added, “I wish the people of India prosperity, peace, and greatness in the coming years. I look forward to Indonesia and India continuing to be close partners and friends.”

President Droupadi Murmu, who received President Subianto at the banquet, highlighted the deep-rooted ties and shared democratic values between the two nations. “This is a reflection of the long-standing ties and strong democratic traditions between India and Indonesia,” Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement on X.

Indonesian Contingent in Republic Day Parade

As a special highlight, this year’s Republic Day celebrations will feature a marching and band contingent from Indonesia, showcasing the growing camaraderie between the two nations.
