Poonch, May 31: Three terrorists were captured by the Indian Army in Poonch on Wednesday after an attempted infiltration was thwarted.
On the intervening night of May 30-31, the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector. Three to four terrorists were apprehended as they tried to cross the fence by taking advantage of the bad weather and heavy rain, according to an official statement.
“After tracking the movement at about 1.30 hours, a well-sited Indian Army ambush on challenging them was fired upon and in the retaliatory firefight, some terrorists have been hit,” the statement said.
After that, a search operation was started and the security officers blocked off the area.
“Blood trails have been found. Three terrorists with some weapons and war-like stores including one IED and Narco have been apprehended. One Indian Army soldier was injured in the ensuing firing and has been evacuated,” the statement further mentioned.
The terrorists’ 10-kilogramme IED (improvised explosive device) was retrieved by the army.
The search efforts were ongoing.
