Kyiv, March 7: Ukraine will have floor at the International Court of Justice in The Hague on Monday. An injunction filed by Ukraine against Russia under the UN Convention against Genocide is being considered by a United Nations court responsible with resolving international conflicts.
Kyiv wants the UN judges to declare the Russian onslaught genocide while also rejecting Moscow’s assertion that Ukraine was committing genocide against the country’s Russian minority in the east.
The Kremlin’s lawyers will aggressively oppose the lawsuit on Tuesday, claiming that the court in The Hague has no jurisdiction over Russia. Moscow would argue that because Russia is not committing genocide, there is no case and thus no court that can hear the issue.
