Mumbai, March 7: A Special PMLA court in Mumbai on Monday ordered Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik to be held in judicial custody till March 21.
On February 23, the ED detained Nawab Malik in connection with the Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) detention of Maharashtra minister and NCP politician Nawab Malik had been extended earlier by the Special PMLA court until March 7.
Amit Desai, a defence counsel, slammed the ED in court, claiming that the agency today stated that the Minister’s “terror funding” to Haseena Parkar was 5 lakh, as opposed to 55 lakh in the original application, which was due to a typing error.
“On the front page of today’s remand application, it is written that it is a continuation of the previous remand application. The last time the ED told the court that there was a connection between Nawab Malik and the underworld gang. It was said that he had an active involvement in terror funding,” he said.
