Mumbai, April 16: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is planning to have a closing ceremony, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Notably, since the 2019 edition, the popular T20 league hasn’t had an opening or closing ceremony, but the BCCI is aiming to have one at the end of this season, assuming the Covid-19 situation in the country is under control.

According to the sources, the concept of holding a closing ceremony is in the works, and the top brass has yet to make a decision. The purpose of bringing back the closing ceremony is to ensure that the T20 extravaganza ends on a high note. The BCCI, for example, requested bids for hosting the closing ceremony on Saturday, April 16.

“The BCCI invites bids from reputed entities for staging the Closing Ceremony of IPL 2022, through a tender process,” reads the press release.

Notably, the IPL 2022 final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 29.
