New Delhi, June 19: Ravi Sinha, a senior member of the Indian Police Service (IPS), was chosen by the Centre on Monday to lead the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) for the upcoming two years.
According to a Ministry of Personnel order, the appointment of Sinha, an IPS officer from Chattisgarh’s 1988 batch, as the next RAW chief, received approval from the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee.
When Samant Kumar Goel, an IPS officer from the Punjab cadre who was appointed as Special Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat (SR), completes his term on June 30, Sinha, who is currently serving in that capacity, will take over. Sinha will hold the position for a period of two years from the date he assumes responsibility for it, or until further orders.
“The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Rajiv Sinha, IPS, special secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, as Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing vice Samant Goel on completion of his tenure on June 30, 2023, for a tenure of two years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” the order stated.
As RAW’s chief, Goel took over from Anil Dhasmana in June 2019.
Last year, the RAW chief Goel’s contract was extended by another year.
