New Desk, March 17: As the number of Omicron cases declines around the world, Israel claims that a new probable strain has infected some of its citizens. Two travelers who had landed in Israel were found contaminated with the new Covid-19 version, according to the country’s health minister.
The World Health Organization (WHO), which monitors and classifies Covid-19 variations, has yet to comment on the Israeli claims.
According to studies, the suspected new strain is a mix of two sub-variants of the Covid-19 virus’s Omicron form, known as BA.1 and BA.2.
“This variant is still unknown around the world,” said the health minister in a statement.
Other moderate symptoms of the new Covid version include a low fever, muscle aches, and headaches. According to a news article, the ailment caused by this variation does not require any specific therapy.
While Israeli health experts believe the new variant will not cause a new wave of infections in Israel, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on Tuesday that he will meet with health officials, including Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, to discuss the rising COVID-19 infections in several places around the world.
