BBMKU Dhanbad foundation day: Three ex-VCs, retired senior professors to be felicitated

Dhanbad Mar 17: Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad would felicitate its three ex- vice-chancellors and three retired senior professors on the foundation day celebration which is to be held on March 23.

BBMKU in-charge vice-chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev decided it at a meeting with senior authorities of the university over the preparation of the foundation day celebration. At the meeting, it was also finalized to organize the function at Shree Shree Lakshmi Narayan Women’s College.

Three former vice-chancellors of the university who would be felicitated at the foundation are founder vice-chancellor Dr DK  Singh (director of Birsa Institute of Technology Sindri), Dr Anjani Kumar Srivastava and Kamal John Lakra (North Chhotanagpur Division Hazaribagh commissioner). Kamal John Lakra took additional charge of BBMKU vice-chancellor after the retirement of Dr Anjani Kumar Srivastava.

Dr Dhananjay Kumar Singh, the OSD of the university said that three retired senior professors who would be honoured at the function are Prof SNP Tondon, head of the department Hindi; Prof (Dr) B Kumar, head of the department chemistry and Protector Dr Meena Srivastava.

“Due to Covid guidelines, the foundation day celebration of the university could not be organized properly in the last two years. Since Covid danger has declined, this time it has been decided to organize it in fashion,” said the OSD.

The OSD said that for controlling the crowd of students as well as teachers it has been also decided to arrange an online watching system at PK Roy Memorial College Hospital Dhanbad and other constituent units of the university. There are 10 constituent colleges of Dhanbad and Bokaro that fall under BBMKU which was carved out from Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribagh on March 23, 2017.

Besides vice-chancellor Mukul Narayan Dev, Registrar Dr Vikash Kumar, OSD Dr Dhananjay Kumar Singh were present at the meeting.
