Ranchi, May 23: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) officials on Monday claimed that there has been no notification claiming that the rate of checking a copy will be reduced to Rs 10 for XII and Rs 8 for X answer sheets.

Notably, the teachers of government plus two and high schools evaluating Board examination answer sheets had recently protested by wearing black badges.

According to sources, the teachers have been continuously protesting the decision of (JAC) to pay Rs 10 per copy to the evaluators. JAC has also asked every teacher to check at least 70 copies a day. Earlier, the teachers used to check 35 copies a day for Rs 20 per copy.

Sources at JAC have also claimed that the teachers are worried because the number of pages in an answer sheet has been decreased from 32 to 14 pages, while the total marks of the boards have also been decreased from 80 to 40.

They said, “Teachers believe so because the total marks and number of pages have been decreased. JAC has mentioned the price per copy at Rs 20 in the rules and guidelines that have been taken out already.”

Meanwhile, members of the teachers’ union have opposed the supposed decision by JAC and demanded better fees for the evaluation of answer sheets. They have also claimed, “The Jharkhand Academic Council, which talks about following the pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education, has not followed one basic rule. According to the guidelines issued by CBSE, a teacher can correct a maximum of 35 copies, whereas JAC has doubled this number to 70.”
