Jamshedpur, March 22: Dispute over plucking a jackfruit led one villager to axe another to death. The incident has taken place at Sardabera village in Hutu panchayat under the Kandra thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district about 25 km away from here.
The victim identified as Konda Munda (40) had on Tuesday evening plucked a jackfruit from the tree that falls under the premises of his neighbour Sonia Munda. When Sonia Munda came to know about it in the night, he called Konda and scolded the victim for this act.
Eventually an altercation broke out between the two, prompting Sonia Munda (35) to bring an axe from his house and strike the victim repeatedly until he did not die. Having killed the neighbour, Sonia Munda ran out of the spot towards the adjoining jungle with the axe.
OC, Kandra thana, Rajendra Prasad Mahto confirmed the murder which resulted in due to dispute over a jackfruit.
“We are trying to trace the assailant Sonia Munda who has absconded after committing the murder. Our effort is in the Kandra jungle as villagers pointed out that Sonia Munda has run away towards the forest patch,” said the OC while talking to lagatar24.com.
The police have sent the body to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem having registered a case of murder against Sonia Munda.
