Jamshedpur: Bike-borne criminals loot Rs 9 lakhs from JBVNL cash collection agent in Sidhgora

Jamshedpur, Dec 26: Two bike-borne criminals decamped with Rs nine lakhs from a collection agent in the Sidhgora thana area of the city on Monday afternoon.

The victim identified as Jitendra Patro, was on his way to Bank of India’s Bistupur branch from the an ATP centre of Jharkhand Bijli Vitaran Nigam Ltd (JBVNL) in Sidhgora when the loot was committed.

Patro (36) who is a resident of Mango said as he was negotiating Road No 16 of Sidhgora on his Scooty, two bike riders came from behind and dashed his bike. He said as he fell down, the two took away a bag containing Rs nine lakh from his vehicle’s dickey and sped away.

As Patro fell down from the running Scooty, he sustained injuries and was taken to the MGM medical college hospital for treatment.

Sidhgora police which was eventually informed about the incident has swung into action for detection of the case.

“We have got the information about the loot but are yet to reach to the victim for his statement, ” said Sidhgora thana OC, Ranjit Kumar while talking to Lagatar24.

Meanwhile, the executive engineer of JBVNL’s Jamshedpur division, Subrato Banerjee; under whose jurisdiction the Sidhgora area falls confirmed the incident.

“The loot victim Jitendra Patro is not a JBVNL staff but would work under a JBVNL-sponsored private agency which manages the organisation’s ATP in Sidhgora. Criminals looted about Rs Nine lakhs from Patro, who was going to deposit the cash collected from the ATP in Bank of India’s Bistupur branch. An assistant engineer of the department is looking into the whole matter,” said Banerjee.
