Jamshedpur, March 15: Budhlal Jonko of Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum died of cardiac arrest at Srinagar where he was posted as an inspector in Border Security Force.

Jonko’s body was air-lifted to Ranchi airport from where it was carried by road to his native place at Dharmsai village in Chakradharpur this morning.

Hundreds of mourners, including political activists cutting across the party line, were present at Dharmsai in the morning when the body was brought there.

A guard of honour was accorded to the departed soul before the body wrapped in tricolour was put to rest in his village only, with the bereaved family members including the inspector’s mother Parai Jonko, wife Maniba Jonko and the only son Subhash watching the procedure.

The 52-year-old Budhlal Jonko died of cardiac arrest on duty at Srinagar on Monday. The family members had informed them about his death the same evening.

Subhash Jonko (23) who studied in Jamshedpur had rushed to his village to get the information about his father’s untimely death.

The departed BSF inspector was very popular in Chakradharpur for his amicable nature. He had come to his village in January and had returned back to Srinagar after a month-long stay there.
