Jamshedpur, Jan 4: Police today arrested four persons for allegedly selling out someone else’s rayati land by making forged documents at Dobo under Chandil thana area near Jamshedpur.
Those arrested were identified as Sanjay Ghosh, a resident of Sonari, Raju Karmakar of Kamargora of Dobo, Biren Karmakar of Purulia district of West Bengal and Dhasu Karmakar, a resident of Tamulia in Mango.

Revealing the breakthrough, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Chandil, Sanjay Kumar Singh said that the accused had made forged documents on about 2.5 acres of rayati land located along the Dobo-Kanderbera stretch linking Sonari of the steel city linking to NH-33.
“Having made the forged documents like false Aadhaar card and forged ownership paper related to the landed property belonging to someone else who stays away from this region, the four had started selling out the land to parties for house-building purposes,” said Singh while addressing a press conference at the police office in Chandil on Wednesday.
The SDPO said the four accused had already taken Rs five lakhs from each of the two parties, but while dealing with a third party, the latter checked the veracity of the documents produced by the accused.
“It was during the cross-checking of the documents that the third buyer stumbled upon the fact. Then only the party informed the police requesting a probe into the suspected fraud. Having carried out an investigation, the police ultimately found the four to have been selling someone else’s land fraudulently, ” said the police officer.
The seven-km-long stretch from Dobo near Dumuhani bridge in Sonari to Kanderbera has turned into a prime location after the construction of the bridge over Subernarekha five years ago. Several residential apartments and houses are coming up along the stretch beside hotels and restaurants there, giving way to the frauds to get active in the land sale-purchase racket.
