Jamshedpur, Sept 23: A health screening camp was conducted for Sahiyas ( health workers ) at Ghorabandha in the outskirts of Jamshedpur by the Outreach department of Manipal Tata Medical College.
The Outreach Department of Manipal Tata Medical College, in collaboration with the Allied Health Sciences Department, successfully conducted the healthcare initiative.
The event was dedicated to the well-being of the diligent and indispensable Sahiyas or health workers of East Singhbhum district.
Notably, Sahiya workers are the unsung heroes of the Indian healthcare system, often working tirelessly to bridge the gap between communities and essential healthcare services.
The camp offered Sahiya workers thorough health check-ups, encompassing vital signs, physical examinations, and basic laboratory tests (HB% and RBS).
This holistic approach addressed both immediate health concerns and potential long-term health risks.
Doctors and Allied Health Students from Manipal Tata Medical College were present to conduct the health assessments and provide medical consultations.
A total of 160 Sahiya workers had the opportunity to discuss their health status, seek advice, and gain insights into their well-being.
The screening camp was attended by district civil surgeon Dr. J. Majhi who addressed the Sahiyas and encouraged their active involvement in the community and also announced that every Tuesday and Friday immunization will be done at the RHTC Ghorabandha.
He also promised to start delivery facilities by improving the labour room within two weeks and also to provide USG facility for pregnant women on the 9th day of every month through PMSMA scheme.
The event was organized by Dr Maheshwar Prasad , former district civil surgeon and head of the Outreach Programme.
Acting Chief Medical Officer ( ACMO ) Dr J Prasad, Dr M Dhawria, Dr Keshari( District Tuberculosis Officer) and their team, Dr Jarina Begum (HOD ,Department of Community Medicine),Dr Sachin Kumar Patil (Assistant Professor, in-charge RHTC Ghorabandha), Palukuri Yashwanth Kumar (HOD ,Allied Health) and several other doctors and health officials were present to make the camp a grand success.
Manipal Tata Medical College had long been committed to the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
The health screening camp showed the commitment, focussing on Sahiya workers who had been the backbone of healthcare outreach in Jamshedpur.
