Jamshedpur, June 9:  The new director of NIT Jamshedpur Gautam Sutradhar has set his priorities.

Apart from enduring an all round development of the tech cradle he also wants industry-oriented practical training for the wannabe technocrats.

He has started taking steps in this direction by recently holding a meeting with entrepreneurs of micro, small and medium industries of the Adityapur industrial area, the state’s largest industrial hub in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Sources said the move is also aimed at improving the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings.

During the recent meeting held earlier this week, the institute representative brainstormed with local entrepreneurs and owners of various MSME’s as to how to foster better ties.

MSME owners engaged in a thoughtful and extensive deliberation on how to establish coordination between the institute’s B.Tech students, PhD research scholars, and local industries.

The objective was to ensure that students not only receive academic development but also gain practical knowledge about the industrial world.

This initiative aimed to make them aware of the complexities and opportunities in the industry, enabling them to establish new ventures upon completion of their academic journey.

It was decided that  NIT students would undergo a one-week or fortnight training programme in various  MSME’s through Laghu Udyog Bharati.

This programme intends to facilitate better interaction between students and the industry for their future career development.
