Jamshedpur, April 11: Police on Tuesday registered a case against a youth with the Kadma thana for posting a provocative and objectionable message against a particular religion on social media.
The accused Ubair Akhtar has been booked under Section 295 – A of the IPC, which is a cognizable offence.
As the police were vigilant round-the-clock scanning the messages being posted on social media after the communal violence in Shastrinagar recently, they came across a post on the WhatsApp on Tuesday.
As the message was objectionable and provocative, targeting a particular religion in the background of the communal tension flare up, the police immediately took notice of it.
The police immediately registered the case under the relevant section which prohibits blasphemy against any religion in India.
A senior police officer while talking to lagatar24.com said the accused Ubair Akhtar, who is a resident of Kadma, will be arrested soon.
It may be mentioned here that soon after the communal tension had flared up in Shastrinagar on Sunday evening, the district police had got the internet service blocked across the steel city for about 20 hours. The purpose behind the step was to prevent the people having a communal bent of mind from spreading rumours and objectionable messages through the social media.
