Jamshedpur, July 9: Police solved the sensational couple murder case of Telco by arresting two persons from the adjoining Birsanagar thana area this morning.

Those arrested were minor daughter of the murder victims Bhupendra Prasad and Sabita Devi, and 37-year-old man Salit Kumar.

An unpalatable love affair between the minor girl and the 37-year-old had made the couple belligerent, eventually resulted in their murder in the hands of the “love-birds.”

Revealing about the breakthrough, Senior SP Prabhat Kumar said that Salit had developed physical relationship with the girl a year ago when he stayed at the victims’ house as a tenant.

“Having come to know about the objectionable act of Salit with his daughter, Bhupendra Prasad had driven him out of his house in January this year. But the accused continued to keep his relation with the girl despite having shifted to a new house at Om Nagar in Birsanagar. Late in the night of Sunday, Salit had visited the girl’s house in Mandal Bastee with an intention of eloping the girl. As the two were about to leave the house, the girl’s father woke up triggering an altercation between them. As the situation worsened, Salit picked up a hammer and hit Bhupendra’s head hard causing the latter to die. When Sabita Devi also woke up hearing the commotion, Salit killed her too. Subsequently, both Salit and the girl left the house having dropped a note, ” narrated the Senior SP while addressing a press conference.

He said that the minor girl used a pressure cooker as a weapon to kill her mother.

Prabhat Kumar pointed out the letter written by the minor girl was aimed at misleading the police. It was written in the letter that her parents used to quarrel regularly among themselves. She had mentioned that around midnight, her father killed her mother and having seen this she was prompted to kill her father. She had also mentioned that she would commit suicide soon.

According to the senior police officer, the murders were committed in the wee hours of Monday. Having left the house, Salit had taken the girl to his place at Om Nagar and switched off both the mobile phones so as to evade their location.

“But the police team succeeding to track down the location of the assailant by means of the technical cell of the district police,” said Prabhat Kumar, adding that the police have recovered the weapons used for murders — hammer and pressure cooker from the crime scene.

The bodies of Bhupendra Prasad (40) and wife Sabita Devi (35) were found in a pool of blood at their house in Mandal Bastee under Telco thana area on Monday morning.
