Jamshedpur: Railway ticket broker arrested for illegal ticket reservation business

Jamshedpur, July 23: Acting on a tip-off,  a team of the crime investigation branch of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested a ticket broker from a cyber cafe in the Parsudih locality of the city today.

While arresting the accused identified as Manoj Mandal, the railway police team seized three live tickets and Rs 52,000 from the cyber cafe.

Mandal is the owner of Mandal Cyber Cafe located at Chandni Chowk area in Parsudih and had been running the railway ticket reservation business in an unauthorised way for the past one year.

Inspector, Crime Investigation Branch, Satish Chandra said Mandal used to have three users’ IDs to book the tickets for his clients online.

“The railway ticket agents having IRCTC affiliation can book the railway tickets, but the arrested person would book the tickets on the basis of users’ IDs which is illegal, ” said Chandra while talking to the media.

Mandal was arrested under Section 143 of the Railway Act and was handed over to RPF, Tatanagar for the necessary action.
