Jamshedpur, Sept 30: A floating solar power project of 10.8 MWp capacities was commissioned at the upper cooling plant inside Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur plant.
With this, a total of 20.34MWp of solar projects have been commissioned in various facilities at Tata Steel in Jamshedpur including at an airport.
This project has been commissioned by Tata Power under the larger agreement with Tata Steel for installation of total 41MWp with a combination of roof top, floating and ground mounted solar panels across its locations.
Earlier, rooftop solar projects at Central Warehouse, Cold Rolling Mill, Wire Rod Mill and Hot Strip Mill totalling to 7.65 MWp; and a 2 MWp ground-mounted solar project at Sonari Airport, have already been commissioned.
Several definitive steps have been taken by the steel major to reinforce its sustainability credentials.
In recent past, power generation from solar and non-conventional energy sources has gained momentum across its operating locations.
The company continues on its pursuit of clean energy solutions and expanding its renewable energy footprint.
