Jamshedpur, Mar 9: Police on Thursday afternoon recovered body of a 15-year-old boy from Subernarekha river along Kamargora under Kapali thana outpost area in Chandil.
The body was later identified as that of Piyush Shrivastav, a resident of Bajrang Path at Ulyan in Kadma.
Piyush, who was a class X student of Tata Workers’ Union School in Kadma was missing since the night of March 4, leading his parents to lodge a missing person’s report with the Kadma thana on March 5.
According to the deceased’s elder brother Ayush Shrivastav, three-four girls, including a student of his class had made a prank call on his cell phone on the morning of March 4.
“After getting the prank call, my brother scolded the callers, as a result of which the parents of one of the girls had threatened to implicate him in a police case. Ever since Piyush was threatened, he had become disturbed. In the night at around 9 pm, he went out saying that he will be back soon, but he never returned. We had lodged a missing person’s report with the thana after having searched for him everywhere. Today we were informed about the recovery of my brother’s body from the Subernarekha,” narrated the bereaved Ayush while talking to the media.
Ayush said the police should probe the case effectively and make arrests if anyone is found guilty.
Ashok Kumar Ram, OC, Kadma thana said this might be a case of suicide. “We are investigating the case. Justice will be done with the deceased boy,” said the OC while talking to Lagatar.
