Jamshedpur, Sept 12: Steel city of Jamshedpur will witness 350 community Durga Pujas this year.
Last year, two new pujas were added. This year no new application was submitted.
Jamshedpur Durga Puja Kendriya Samiti (JDPKS), the apex body which monitors pujas in steel city had granted permission for two new community pujas last year.
Two new pujas- one at Sonari and the other close to NH-33 near Vasundhara Estate at Mango were added.
Jamshedpur Durga Puja Kendriya Samiti will hold a meeting next week for reviewing the puja preparations.
The five-day Puja will be organised beginning Maha Sasthi on October 1. Those who follow Navratri will begin the rituals with ‘Kalash Sthapna’ on September 26.
The district administration guidelines issued a couple of days back have allowed the construction of Durga Puja pandals but with certain restrictions.
The administration asked Puja organisers to ensure eco-friendly idols. Ban was imposed on tunnel-shaped pandals and also on DJs during the five days of Pujas and the immersion procession. A ban was also imposed on the use of firecrackers during the immersion procession.
Fairs, welcome gates, illumination with fancy lights, cultural programs, distribution of bhog and theme-based pandals were allowed this year.
The immersion procession will be taken out on October 5 (Maha Dashami). Dhakisand good stalls around the Durga Puja pandals have been permitted.
Later this month, the district administration would also appoint super zonal and zonal officials for monitoring the Pujas.
