Jamshedpur, Sept 2: Two class VII students of Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Pranavi Sinha and Aayush Chauhan, won the city level of Intach Heritage Quiz organised by the Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (Intach) at the Information Centre of the Tata Steel Zoological Park on Friday.
Abhigyan and Kartik, also students of Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, were the runners up among 70 students from 12 city schools. The participating schools were Motilal Nehru Public School, Rajendra Vidyalaya, Chinmaya Vidyalaya South Park, Jusco School Kadma, DBMS High School, JH Tarapore School, Kerala Samajam Model School, Loyola School, Kerala Public School, Kadma, DAV Public School, Bistupur, Hill Top School and Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Telco. Students had to answer a preliminary test based on which six teams were selected for the stage round.
The Intach Heritage Quiz is organised to create awareness on tangible and intangible heritage of the country and the world. The quiz is organised at three levels starting with city round followed by state level and the national level. All participating students belong to classes VII to IX.
“The Intach quiz is being organised so that students learn about their heritage. We make it a point to include questions pertaining to local or state heritage and national heritage. The winners from the city levels shall participate in the state level and the winning team from each state will represent at the national level,” said convenor of Intach, Jamshedpur chapter, Amitava Ghosh.
The quiz consisted of six rounds – visual, rapid fire, monumental heritage, intangible heritage, city and Indian culture. Questions on the earlier names of Jayanti Sarovar in Jubilee Park; Silence tower, megaliths in Jharkhand, Kumbh mela of Ujjain were put up by the students. The rapid fire round was where students had to answer 4 questions in 30 seconds.
“We enjoyed the quiz. It is after a gap of two years that we enjoyed being at a common place. Last year we had an online quiz but this is more exciting,” said Pranavi, whose team answered the maximum number of questions and bagged the first prize.
The winners received Intach books while the runners up received jute bags. All the participants received certificates.
