Jamshedpur, June 6: A 23-year-old youth, who had come out of his house in Sidhgora locality for watching a movie at a mall in Bistupur on Sunday afternoon, has gone missing.
Concerned with the son’s mysterious disappearance, the anxious mother first lodged a missing person’s report with the Sidhgora police station late in the night and subsequently approached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) this afternoon requesting him to trace her son at the earliest.
The youth in question is Raja Thakur, a resident of Sindhu road in Side and a student of Gamhria-based Arka Jain University.
Raja’s mother, Babita Devi said that her son had come out of her house informing her that he was going to PM Mall in Bistupur for watching a movie.
“As Raja did not return home till late in the night, I started increasingly nervous. Around midnight, I informed the local thana, but the police could not do anything for tracing my son, I had to meet the senior SP, M Tamil Vanan. I suspect my son must be in some kind of serious trouble and his whereabouts can be known when the police departments will make a concerted effort only,” said the woman while talking to the newsmen.
Babita Devi pointed out that at around 9 pm last night, she had called on her son’s phone.
“The first call remained unanswered, but the time when she called, a youth received it and replied that Raja’s mobile phone was left with him by mistake and soon after he snapped off the call. Immediately after the call, the phone was switched off,” narrated Babita Devi.
The OC of Sidhgora thana Ranjit Kumar confirmed the missing person report lodged by Babita Devi.
“We have put the number of Raja Thakur on surveillance and are expecting some breakthrough in the matter soon, ” said Kumar, adding that they are also talking to some of the intimate friends of Raja to get an idea about his background.
