Jamui police bust inter-state bike lifter gang

Deoghar, July 19: The Jamui police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of bike lifters. Five key members, including the leader of the gang, have been arrested and 17 stolen bikes have also been recovered from their hideouts.

The arrested bike lifters have been identified as Prakash Singh, resident of Bangal More under the Chirkunda police station area of Dhanbad district, Chandan Kumar, resident of Afjal Nagar under the Tarapur PS area of Munger district, Ramprawesh Kumar and Pappu Kumar, both from Bojhayat village under Garahi of Jamui district, Vikash Kumar resident of Gokhula village under Sikandra PS area.

SDPO Jamui Rakesh Kumar told media persons that the arrested bike lifters have confessed that they were committing crimes for Prakash Singh who originally belongs to Sikandra in Bihar but presently he had been operating the crime from Dhanbad. He also assured that after verification of documents and bonafide owners of vehicles, under the operation Muskan, the vehicles would be handed over.

He said a team under his leadership was formed by the district SP following the increasing cases of bike lifting. Getting a tip-off about the lifting of bikes by a gang of miscreants the police responded timely and got a success.
