New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah turned the tide for India on Day 2 of the third Test in Brisbane, dismissing key Australian batters with a stellar double-wicket over and registering his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. His fiery spell reignited India’s fightback in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Bumrah Dismantles Australian Line-Up
The Aussies appeared dominant with Travis Head and Steve Smith posting a massive 241-run stand for the fourth wicket. Smith, ending his 18-month century drought, scored 101 before falling to Bumrah, caught by Rohit Sharma at first slip on the last ball of the 21st over.
In his very next over, Bumrah dismissed Mitchell Marsh for 5, courtesy of a sharp catch by Virat Kohli at second slip. Just three balls later, Bumrah struck again, removing the dangerous Travis Head for 152, caught behind by Rishabh Pant.
Match-Changing Spell
Bumrah’s heroics not only broke Australia’s momentum but also made him the leading wicket-taker of the series. This five-wicket haul marks his second in the series, further solidifying his impact in India’s campaign.
Bumrah’s Test Cricket Legacy
Renowned for his ability to adapt to varied conditions, Bumrah has proven himself across challenging terrains like South Africa, England, Australia, and the Caribbean. His skill set, including reverse swing, pinpoint yorkers, and the exploitation of bounce, makes him one of India’s most versatile pacers.
Despite facing injuries that have limited his appearances, Bumrah’s resilience and precision have kept him at the forefront of India’s Test bowling attack.
