Ranchi – The Central Government has approved ₹35 crore as special assistance for five Naxal-affected districts in Jharkhand. Under this scheme, West Singhbhum (Chaibasa), classified as a highly Naxal-affected district, has been granted ₹15 crore, while Gumla, Latehar, Lohardaga, and Giridih will each receive ₹5 crore. The Home Secretary has issued an official order in this regard.

The directive specifies that any unauthorized withdrawal of funds will be the sole responsibility of the respective District Commissioners (DCs).

Naxal-Affected Districts in Jharkhand

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum, Giridih, Gumla, Latehar, and Lohardaga are identified as Maoist-affected districts. Among these, West Singhbhum has been classified as a severely affected district, while the remaining four districts are listed as Districts of Concern (DOC).

Districts Declared Free of Maoist Activities

Six districts in Jharkhand – Ranchi, Bokaro, Garhwa, Khunti, Chatra, and Seraikela-Kharsawan – have been declared free from Maoist influence. These districts have been included in the “Legacy and Thrust Districts” (LT) category to ensure that Maoist activities do not resurface.
