Dhanbad, Jan 4: All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA) has assigned East Singhbhum District Chess Association president NK Tiwary to probe a complaint against state champion Pritam Singh for slapping and abusing Bholanath Das during the state championship at Ranchi.
At the urgent meeting of the state body held at the Ranchi residence of executive president Richa Sanchita on Tuesday evening chaired by president Pradip Varma, it was unanimously decided to hand over the case to NK Tiwary.
Since both the players belong to East Singhbhum district, NK Tiwary would issue show cause to them and record their opinion on the allegation. Tiwary would submit his report to the association.
Bholanath Das had lodged a complaint that Pritam Singh slapped and abused him during 5th round of the state championship at Ranchi on October 27. He had also complained to the All India Chess Federation.
“The association would take action against the guilty player on basis of the East Singhbhum Association report so that such unsavoury incidents do not take place again in future,” thundered the president at the meeting.
However, the sources said the association dumped two other complaints of the agenda pending since 2020 related to Pritam Singh and Rohan Vijay Shandilya.
The sources said president Pradip Varma also informed the association about the resignation of general secretary Neeraj Mishra (International Master).
“His resignation has been accepted after informing All India Chess Federation,” announced Varma.
Besides president and executive president Richa Sanchita, all three vice-presidents Vijay Kumar Singh (Hazaribag, Dhananjay Kumar (Ramgarh), Sunil Khabrey (Deoghar) all four joint secretaries Basant Khandelwal (W Singhbhum), Ajay Kumar (Saraikela), Sunil Kumar Singh (Giridih), Anil Kumar Singh (Chatra), treasurer Satish Kumar, coordinator Prabhat Ranjan and life member Navin Prakash attended the urgent meeting.
At the meeting, the association approved permanent membership to five provisional members districts Palamu, Jamtara, Lohardagga, Gumla and Koderma. So far 21 districts became attached to the chess association. President Pradip Varma also formed two members committee comprising Ajay Kumar of Saraikela and Ashok Kumar of Dumka to form a district chess body in Pakur, Sahebganj and Simdega.
The sources said that at the meeting three members committee was formed under International Arbiter Jayant Bhuyan of Jamshedpur to conduct a state body election by January 25. Other members of the election committee are Navjot Alangay (Ranchi), and Suresh Nath Narore (Deoghar).
The trio members would draw detailed programmes for election. The election of the Jharkhand Chess Association had been due since May 2022. But due to a rift between the president and the general secretary, it was put on hold.
