Ranchi, Sept. 9: An Assembly committee will decide the matter of allotment of a room for offering Namaz in the assembly premises. The committee will be constituted after lunch today.
Speaker Rabindranath Mahto announced this when JMM legislator Sarfraz Ahmed gave a proposal to this effect asking the speaker to reconsider the decision of allotment of a room for prayer as Namaz cannot be offered on disputed land.
His proposal was supported by Congress legislators, Pradeep Yadav and Bandhu Tirkey, saying it was a reflection of the secularism of the country. BJP legislator Bhanu Pratap Shahi also supported the proposal saying it could have come on the very first day of the session, adding that though the words have come from the mouth of JMM legislators but it matches with the thought of the BJP.
Speaker Mahto while making the announcement said that the committee will be directed to take a decision on the matter as early as possible.
