Ranchi, March 24: The Jharkhand assembly today passed Jharkhand State Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill 2022 amidst uproar from the opposition.
Earlier, Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh laid the bill on the floor of the house. On behalf of the opposition, Amar Kumar Baouri, Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Amit Kumar Mandal, Lambodar Mahto, Binod Kumar Singh, Randhir Singh and Biranchi Narayan moved an amendment motion on the bill and demanded that the bill be sent to a select committee.
Responding to the amendment of the opposition, minister Patralekh said that the vision of one nation, one market has been realized with the aim of comprehensive reforms and transparency in agricultural marketing in the state to provide fair price to the farmers of the state for their produce and increase their income.
The bill paves the path of modern marketing systems and online arrangements through electronic trading portals to the farmers of the state. Apart from this, this bill is needed for the purpose of private participation in the field of agricultural marketing and to provide more market options to the farmers.
The minister said that the government would get revenue through this. In which, by establishing new markets with modernization and infrastructure of rural haats/markets, arrangements can be made to provide a market to the farmers every 10 KMs. He said that the intention behind enacting the bill is to strengthen and empower the farmers and livestock farmers.
When the process of passing the bill was on, all the BJP MLAs boycotted the house when their suggestion to send it to the select committee was not approved. They were of the opinion that the bill will give rise to corruption and the beginning of Inspector Raj.
