Dhanbad, Dec. 10: Ranchi brother pair of Amaan Rahman and Ayaan Rahman today reached the semifinal of the Jharkhand State under-19 badminton championship cum selection trial being played in Dumka Indoor Stadium.
In the quarterfinal, Ranchi’s Amaan and Ayaan defeated Rounak Negi and Rupesh Raj pair of Jamshedpur in three sets in an exciting encounter in which both pairs fought hard for every point.
State’s 2nd ranked doubles event pair Amaan and Ayaan lost the first game 17-21 but bounced back in 2nd and 3rd game and won 21-19, 21-19. Rounak and Rupesh though lost the match, they fought hard for every point.Till the last point both the games looked evenly.
In another match of boys doubles event, Joy Chatterjee and Udit Dayal pair of Dhanbad also reached the last four stage in the championship beating Ranchi pair of Liladhar Upadhyay and Sajan kumar in three sets 11-21, 21-13, 21-14in quarterfinal.
Harshit Raj ( Gumla) and Niraj kesri ( Ranchi) pair also reached the semifinal defeating Kirtan Agarwal and Shantu Kumar Sharma of East Singhbhum 21-13, 21-14.
Top seed Emmamul J Kujur ( West Singhbhum) and Priyansu Tirkey (Gumla) pair defeated Ranchi pair of Badal Nayak and Manas Ranjan 21-7, 21-4.
Girls doubles
Adadhya Singh and Saraah Sharma pair of East Singhbhum defeated Garima kashyap ( Ranchi ) and Rani Priya ( Gumla) 15-4, 15-4 to advance for the title clash. In another match Anisha Mishra ( Jamshedpur) and Yogita Bora ( Ranchi) beat Dhanbad pair of Vaibhavi Maan and Shruti 15-10, 15-11.
