Daltonganj, March 3: A batch of 39 students in the final semester of the department of forestry under the Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) Ranchi recently had an outreach at the Betla National Park.
The contingent of 39 students had 22 girls, 17 boys and two faculty members-Dr BC Oraon and Dr Anil Kumar.
One of the girls of this contingent of the forestry department Maloth Mounika of Telangana said, “We did inquire about the presence of tiger in the tiger reserve Palamu but we were told of having no evidence of its presence here by the personnel of the Betla National Park.”
She said, “The Betla National Park people explained to us about the nature and behaviour of the wildlife very well. We enjoyed their information.”
She said we appreciated that PTR management takes care of the villagers around and the villagers show concern for the wildlife.
A PTR personnel Manish Bakshi said, “The students of the faculty of forestry were very inquisitive. They enjoyed looking at our long trees and shrubs. We believe we tried to exchange notes about the Betla National Park and PTR in general quite successfully.”
The forestry students wanted to know more about forest fires and their mitigation measures. The contingent went to the Palamu Quila and Kamaldah Jheel the resort to migratory birds in acute winter.
