Ranchi, Aug.30: BJP state president Deepak Prakash today demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the death of Ankita Singh and suspected link of Islamic organisation like the Popular Front of India (PFI) behind the incident.
He raised the demand while addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters. Those present during the press conference included two senior leaders of the party, Arti Kujur and Pradeep Verma.
Prakash justified the demand saying Dumka, Pakur and many areas of Santhal Pargana are under the influence of the PFI and thus the link of the accused in the case, Shahrukh Hussain, with the PFI cannot be ruled out.
Earlier, Prakash said the role of deputy police superintendent of the district Mohammed Noor Mustafa is also doubtful as he reduced the age of the accused and increased the age of the victim and thus attempted to ensure that the accused gets minimum punishment as in India there are different law for juvenile and adults.
Pointing out this, BJP state president Prakash demanded registration of an FIR against the deputy superintendent police for hatching a criminal conspiracy to defend a murder accused.
Ankita was set on fire on August 23 by Shahrukh Hussain after the former refused the friendship offer of the latter. She died on August 26 at RIMS.
Prakash said the girl would have survived if proper treatment had been given to her timely. He said as the father of the girl was a poor man he could afford shifting of the girl to RIMS after 12 hours of her injuries and at RIMS proper attention was not paid to the girl.
The BJP president, on the occasion, parrying a reply to a query on the UPA MLAs being shifted outside the state for political reason by a plane said that if the government had provided on small flight to the girl she would have survived.
Earlier, Prakash termed the Hemant Soren-led UPA government shameless and irresponsible saying when the girl was suffering from burn injuries the government was enjoying picnic and the chief minister was whistling.
“Jab Rome Jal Raha Tha to Nero Bansuri Baja Raha Tha,” Prakash commented.
Replying to a question regarding misbehaviour by party worker Seema Patra with a tribal girl, Prakash said Patra has been suspended from the party for the act and if the allegation against her is found correct after internal inquiry she will be dismissed from the party.
On the question regarding the fear of horse trading attempt by the BJP, the state president refused to comment saying the law is taking its own course and any allegation against the BJP is baseless.
