Ranchi, Dec.16: About two years ago when Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his view saying that selling ‘pakodas’ is a way of employment, he was under criticism. Now, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is facing the same situation for the similar view suggesting selling ‘chickens and eggs’ can be a way of employment.
It was experienced today when members of the BJP youth wing, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha, put up a stall to sell chicken and eggs near Nucleus Mall on Circular Road in the city heart to mock Chief Minister Soren’s advice of selling eggs and chickens to youth after promising 5 lakh jobs every year or unemployment allowance till arrangement of employment.
Around 50 BJYM workers were noticed under the leadership of their state president Kislay Tiwari. While they were selling chicken at the rate of Rs. 120 per kg, the price of the egg they had fixed was Rs 7 per piece. They were equipped with an electronic balance to weigh the chicken to the customers reaching their stalls, where local councillor Roshni Khalkho was also present to ensure that the enforcement team does not disturb them.
“We have been at work since 10.30am. The demand remained low. In three hours we could sell 13 out of 120 eggs and 8kg of chicken. One chicken also died of cold. I will have to assess how much chicken remained with us after selling eight kg as chicken were of different sizes,” Tiwari said, sharing his experience.
When asked what wrong Soren has done by suggesting to sell chicken and egg to fight unemployment as Modi had also made the same statement in 2019.
“There is a difference between Modi’s suggestion and Hemant’s advice. Unlike Hemant, Modi Ji started start-up schemes and provided loans to youths to start their own employment before sharing his view of selling Pakoda as a way to beat unemployment,” Tiwary said, taking strong exception to the comparison of Hemant Soren’s statement with Modi’s.
Tiwary said”: “When the BJP was in power, it gave several jobs on contract basis but the Hemant Soren government has started taking back the employment.”
As youths were selling eggs and chicken, passersby were heard giving mixed responses.
“Sab Nautanki Hai,” heard one of the passersby saying while another heard contradicting him saying ‘thik kar raha hai. Hemant Ka pol khol raha hai.’
