Ranchi, April 26: The determination of holding tax in Jharkhand will now be done on the basis of circle rate. The proposal to this effect was approved in a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday evening.
A cabinet coordination department official informed this sharing among the other approvals including the construction of 70 MLA quarters with the expenditure of Rs 203 crore at Kute located near the state assembly.
The Cabinet coordination department did not brief the approvals due to the model code of conduct enforced in the wake of the Panchayat election, the official went on saying whatever information he had.
“The proposal for holding tax was brought by the Urban Development Department, which includes the Jharkhand Municipal Amendment Bill 2021. In this, there is a report of an increase of 10-15% in the holding tax in all the urban bodies of the state including Ranchi. Now the holding tax in the municipal bodies will be decided on the basis of the circle rate of the land. At present the work of collecting and holding tax is closed in the municipal bodies,” the official said.
Among the other approvals given in the meeting include payment of a tariff subsidy of 1690 crores to NTPC and DVC in the wake of the power crisis.
