Ranchi, Aug 24: The Jharkhand cabinet on Wednesday approved creation of 50,000 new posts of teachers for primary and middle schools, and sanctioned Rs 36 crore for free distribution of food grains among the poor till September 2022.

“The cabinet approved creation of 20,825 new posts of intermediate trained assistant teachers for primary schools and 29,175 new posts of trained graduate teachers for middle schools,” said Jharkhand Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel.

Dadel further informed that the cabinet sanctioned Rs 36 crore for the free distribution of five kilograms of foodgrains from April 2022 to September 2022 among the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKY).

Another important decision was to revise the amount of pre-matric scholarships for the students of reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) in government schools. Students of class one to six will now get Rs 1,500, seven and eight Rs 2,500 and nine and ten Rs 4,500.

“The cabinet has approved the name change of Mukhya Mantri Sukanya Yojana to Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana. In financial aid, girls of class eight and nine will get Rs 2,500, those of class 10-12 will get Rs 5,000 and those of 18-19 years will get a lumpsum amount of Rs 20,000,” the Principal Secretary said.

Another 87 new posts have been created for teachers in degree colleges. And, 1,990 new posts have been created for para medical staff and doctors for 134 new primary health centres.

Further, IIT Madras has been nominated as the technical partner of the state transport department for studying and drafting the standard operating procedures to reduce road accidents in the state.

In the road construction department, the cabinet gave its approval for the construction of 26 kms of road between Gomia and Dumri Bihar at a cost of Rs 83 crore. It also sanctioned about Rs 212 crore for construction of 6.9 kms of road at Chandaghasi ring road near Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.

North Karanpura Thermal Power Station has been granted a 30-year lease of 1.49 acre land in Nirsa block in Dhanbad for Rs 90,24,245 for setting up a substation.

Another cabinet decision was to change the rules for guarantors for availing business loans for self employment and setting up businesses for people of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Castes communities.

“Earlier, only income tax payees and government employees could become guarantors. But now even the elected and formerly elected public representatives and private employees can be guarantors,” Dadel said.
