Jharkhand: Chatra police arrest three TPSC extremists, recover pamphlets

Hazaribag, Jan 16: Chatra police on Monday carried out a raid and arrested three extremists of Tritiya Prastuti Sammelan Committee (TSPC) who were threatening coal traders and transporters of two districts by putting up posters.

Notably, the team has also recovered 525 pamphlets from them. Chatra superintendent of police Rakesh Ranjan confirmed the arrest and said they have arrested the fourth man also who was printing pamphlets for TSPC. 

Sources said transporters to coal traders were asked to pay a levy to TSPC. For this, posters were put up in various areas of Simaria and Tandwa of Chatra as well as in neighbouring Keredari of Hazaribag. 

Moreover, even Rs. 1 crore was demanded from a company making Ranjan form a team led by Simaria SDPO Ashok Priyadarshi and his Tandwa counterpart Shambhu Singh directing them to probe and crack the case. 

The team probed the case and arrested three TSPC extremists from Simaria who were threatening coal traders and transporters on Sunday. 

On their information, a man was arrested for printing pamphlets of TSPC. The arrested extremists are identified as Santosh Ram, Nandlal Bharti, Shiv Shankar Bharti and one Mohammad Noman Badar who was printing pamphlets for them. Ranjan said they have also recovered 2 bikes, 9 mobile phones and one laptop from them. Ranjan said arrestee Santosh Ram is the mastermind and on whose direction, threatening given. 

Ranjan asked extremists to surrender taking advantage of the state government’s surrender policy or to get killed.
