Ranchi, July 31: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved a proposal to give Rs 3000 per month as honorarium to Parganait, a traditional village-panchayat level tribal leader of Santhal Pargana.
The approval was given following recommendation of Dumka’s deputy commissioner.
Earlier, the chief minister had approved an honorarium proposal to other tribal traditional heads. At present, a Manki gets Rs 3000 per month, Munda and village head gets Rs 2000 per month. Dakua, Parganaut, Paranik, Jog Manjhi, Kudam Nayaki, Nayaki, Godait, Mool Rayat, Padha Raja, head of Gram Sabha, Ghatwal, Tavedar and Diuri (priest) are being paid an honorarium of Rs 1000 per month.
Earlier in February 2022, the Chief Minister ordered payment of one thousand rupees per month by the Department of Revenue, Registration and Land Reforms to Manjhi Hadam, Jog Manjhi, Paranik, Nayake Baba, Kudam Nayake, who resided at Pirtand in Giridih district.
After getting approval from the state government, 177 Manjhi Hadam, 179 Jog Manjhi, 143 Paranik, 78 and 120 Kudam Nayake of Pirtand are receiving the honour money. It may be known that the names of all the above mentioned 697 people were left out earlier. After getting information about the matter, the chief minister had ordered to provide him with an honorable amount.
